Frito-Lay and Quaker Open New Industry-Leading Greenhouse Learning Center to Fast-Track Sustainable Packaging Innovation

PLANO, Texas, April 4, 2023 -- Frito-Lay and Quaker today announced the opening of an industry-leading Greenhouse Learning Center at its R&D headquarters. The Learning Center will be used to field test, measure, and analyze compostable packaging with an aim to speed up the rate of innovation. This facility represents a key milestone to achieve the company's PepsiCo Positive (pep+) packaging goal to design 100 percent of packaging to be recyclable, compostable, biodegradable or reusable by 2025.

PLANO, Texas, March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- On the eve of Earth Month, the SunChips brand today officially introduces the world's first 100 percent compostable chip bag at an event in Los Angeles, along with details about a new national consumer education effort to encourage composting and greener lifestyles. The new 100 percent compostable bags are made with plant-based polylactic acid (PLA), a renewable material that also allows the bags to fully compost in approximately 14 weeks when placed in a hot, active compost bin.
